Markets gain strength; Metal, IT stocks up

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in Metal and IT stocks.

At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82111.73 up by 338.07 points or by 0.41 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25137.55 up by 91.4 points or by 0.36 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82160.85 and intraday low of 81667.68 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25182.45 and intraday low of 25024.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1488.90,+2.48%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 175.60,+2.18%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1656.90,+1.55%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2145.40,+1.32%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12149.00,+1.32%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 673.40,-1.16%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1169.70,-0.91%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3545.20,-0.59%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15920.00,-0.57%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 977.00,-0.18%), among others.



Metal index was at 34165.97 up by 605.55 points or by 1.8%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 510.55,+4.20%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 78.43,+2.87%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 135.40,+2.61%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1172.25,+2.40%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 229.05,+2.39%),.



Auto index was at 59171.24 down by -71.16 points or by -0.12%. UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1255.00,-4.29%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 673.40,-1.16%), Sundram Fasteners Ltd. (Rs. 994.20,-1.05%), Apollo Tyres Ltd. (Rs. 483.60,-0.70%), Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2273.55,-0.66%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4473 , shares advanced were 2037 while 2249 shares declined and 187 were unchanged.
