Sensex surges 387 points; NSE Nifty at 25431.4

Equity markets opened higher on Thursday amid stock-specific action during the ongoing Q2 results season.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82993.16 up by 387.73 points or by 0.47 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25431.4 up by 107.85 points or by 0.43 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83061.94 and intraday low of 82791.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25440.95 and intraday low of 25376.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1200.50,+2.69%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3628.05,+2.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3552.30,+1.57%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1075.00,+1.45%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1470.65,+1.38%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1646.00,-0.49%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2955.05,-0.47%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1468.15,-0.39%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 172.75,-0.23%), State Bank of India (Rs. 885.05,-0.13%), among others.



Auto index was at 60305.96 up by 718.94 points or by 1.21%. Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 1264.80,+2.57%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 107.35,+2.38%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1229.10,+1.76%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 396.90,+1.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3552.30,+1.57%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3630 , shares advanced were 2456 while 1003 shares declined and 171 were unchanged.
