Post-Session: Sensex jumps 862 pts, Nifty tops 25,600

Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, witnessed a sharp rally on Thursday, October 16, 2025, rising over a per cent each, following positive global and domestic market cues.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83467.66 up by 862.23 points or by 1.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25585.3 up by 261.75 points or by 1.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83615.48 and intraday low of 82791.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25625.4 and intraday low of 25376.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1276.55,+4.50%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2206.00,+2.67%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3642.45,+2.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1196.25,+2.33%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1479.35,+1.97%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 348.40,-1.73%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 738.70,-0.23%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1472.75,-0.08%), among others.



Realty index was at 7244.39 up by 133.28 points or by 1.87%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1690.85,+5.62%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2207.05,+3.38%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1545.00,+2.45%), Signatureglobal (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1069.50,+2.44%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1194.65,+1.92%),.



PSU index was at 20056.76 down by 15.83 points or by 0.08%. KIOCL Ltd. (Rs. 455.85,-4.80%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 735.40,-3.01%), Bank of Maharashtra (Rs. 57.62,-2.83%), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 377.90,-2.14%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 590.65,-1.81%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4521 , shares advanced were 2466 while 1885 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
