Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty extend gains for third day; hits 52-week high

Indian equities closed higher on Friday, with benchmark indices hitting a 52-week high during the session. Both the Sensex and Nifty extended their winning streak to three consecutive days as markets remained upbeat ahead of the Diwali festival.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83952.19 up by 484.53 points or by 0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25709.85 up by 124.55 points or by 0.49 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84172.24 and intraday low of 83206.08 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25781.5 and intraday low of 25508.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2509.95,+4.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3648.45,+2.45%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2013.70,+2.37%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 412.10,+1.74%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2604.75,+1.70%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1441.30,-2.14%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1487.40,-1.84%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 342.70,-1.64%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1447.55,-1.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 172.25,-1.03%), among others.



_CDS index was at 61025.26 up by 890.8 points or by 1.48%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1385.00,+11.92%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3671.50,+0.80%), Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 1486.20,+0.72%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1425.35,+0.66%), Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 489.80,+0.54%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4485 , shares advanced were 1840 while 2462 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
