Sensex surges 490 points; RIL, Bajaj Finserv top gainers

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading higher on Monday, driven by buying in blue-chips Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and foreign fund inflows.



At 11:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84442.72 up by 490.53 points or by 0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25875.7 up by 165.85 points or by 0.65 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84656.56 and intraday low of 84239.7 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25926.2 and intraday low of 25788.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1461.05,+3.11%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2136.50,+2.58%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1227.00,+2.24%), State Bank of India (Rs. 907.95,+2.09%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 766.50,+2.00%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1403.50,-2.31%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3611.05,-1.03%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12260.00,-0.83%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 340.55,-0.63%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1288.00,-0.08%), among others.



TECk index was at 17375.66 up by 170.8 points or by 0.99%. PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 1116.10,+2.24%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 350.45,+2.19%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2040.00,+1.39%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1459.05,+1.23%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2998.95,+1.23%),.



CDS index was at 60971.96 down by -53.3 points or by -0.09%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1345.25,-2.87%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 16458.00,-1.37%), Havells India Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4269 , shares advanced were 2129 while 1890 shares declined and 250 were unchanged.
