Pre-Session: GIFT Nifty indicates a weak start; BoB, Tata Motors, BPCL in focus

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are expected to start on a weak note on November 3, as indicated by GIFT Nifty, which was trading lower near 25,863.

On October 31, the markets closed in the red for the second straight session, weighed down by selling in metal, IT, and media stocks. However, buying interest in PSU banks helped cushion the overall decline.

On the earnings front, several major companies, including Bharti Airtel, Bharti Hexacom, Power Grid Corporation of India, Titan Company, Tata Consumer Products, Ambuja Cements, Godfrey Phillips India, Maharashtra Scooters, ACME Solar Holdings, Ajanta Pharma, Gland Pharma, and Hitachi Energy India, are set to release their Q2FY26 results today.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 83938.71 down by -465.75 points or by -0.55 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25722.1 down by -155.75 points or by -0.6 %.

On the global front, Asian markets traded mixed on Monday morning, taking signals from Wall Street’s positive close on Friday. South Korea’s Kospi gained 1.04 percent, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.40 percent. Japan’s markets were shut due to a public holiday.

On Wall Street, all three major US indices ended higher on October 31, supported by Amazon’s strong earnings outlook, which boosted overall market sentiment. However, optimism was partly capped by worries that the US Federal Reserve may take a cautious approach toward cutting interest rates. The S&P 500 rose 0.26 percent, the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.61 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average also finished in the green.
