Sensex down 493 points; PGCIL, Eternal top losers

Indian equities continued to hover in red on Tuesday as investors remained cautious in the absence of strong domestic or global triggers. Soft global cues further contributed to the subdued market mood.



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83485.05 down by -493.44 points or by -0.59 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25624.85 down by -138.5 points or by -0.54 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84068.01 and intraday low of 83473.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25787.4 and intraday low of 25592.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3819.35,+2.46%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2109.00,+1.70%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3598.55,+1.41%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1056.05,+1.26%), State Bank of India (Rs. 954.80,+0.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 278.90,-3.16%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 313.10,-2.90%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 406.50,-2.53%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 179.15,-1.92%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15404.00,-1.55%), among others.



CDS index was at 60488.65 up by 62.45 points or by 0.1%. Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3819.35,+2.46%), Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 520.95,+1.04%),.



Metal index was at 34743.36 down by -514.02 points or by -1.46%. Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 377.00,-2.97%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 233.25,-2.24%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 74.44,-2.01%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 179.15,-1.92%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 471.70,-1.85%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4455 , shares advanced were 1627 while 2616 shares declined and 212 were unchanged.
