Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty slip on weak global cues and continued FPI selling

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined on Tuesday as sustained foreign fund outflows and a negative trend across Asian and European markets weighed on investor sentiment.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83459.15 down by -519.34 points or by -0.62 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25597.65 down by -165.7 points or by -0.64 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84068.01 and intraday low of 83412.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25787.4 and intraday low of 25578.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3812.85,+2.28%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2112.90,+1.89%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1055.00,+1.16%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3581.55,+0.93%), State Bank of India (Rs. 957.05,+0.72%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 279.00,-3.13%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 313.45,-2.79%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 406.50,-2.53%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 179.25,-1.86%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15370.45,-1.76%), among others.



CDS index was at 60495.36 up by 69.16 points or by 0.11%. Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3812.85,+2.28%), Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 522.80,+1.40%),.



In BSE, BSETECk index was at 17635.19 up by -25.83 points or by -0.15%. Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 392.50,+2.56%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2112.90,+1.89%), Network18 Media & Investments Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4535 , shares advanced were 1701 while 2647 shares declined and 187 were unchanged.
