Sensex plunges 437 points; NSE Nifty at 25320.2

Indian stock markets opened sharply lower on Friday, mirroring the sell-off seen in Asian markets and overnight declines in the US.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82873.92 down by -437.09 points or by -0.52 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25320.2 down by -189.5 points or by -0.74 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83150.15 and intraday low of 82670.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25447.1 and intraday low of 25319



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1329.80,+0.71%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 408.60,+0.32%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1689.70,+0.23%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1498.00,+0.15%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 270.60,+0.15%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2014.30,-3.83%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1502.30,-1.58%), State Bank of India (Rs. 948.55,-1.27%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2972.90,-1.27%),

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1396.10,-1.26%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28584.84 up by -47.4 points or by -0.17%. Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 276.25,+0.45%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 474.90,+0.38%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1498.00,+0.15%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 251.50,+0.02%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3518 , shares advanced were 978 while 2391 shares declined and 149 were unchanged.
