Sensex, Nifty slide as foreign fund outflows and weak global cues dent sentiments

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty fell sharply on Friday, dragged down by persistent foreign fund outflows and negative trends in global markets that dampened investor sentiment.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82865.03 down by -445.98 points or by -0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25356.8 down by -152.9 points or by -0.6 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83150.15 and intraday low of 82670.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25447.1 and intraday low of 25318.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1332.00,+0.88%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 271.85,+0.61%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1442.70,+0.44%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1046.00,+0.42%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1690.00,+0.25%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2006.50,-4.21%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1394.80,-1.35%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1505.70,-1.35%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 322.60,-1.25%), State Bank of India (Rs. 949.45,-1.18%), among others.



Metal index was at 34092.22 up by 33.91 points or by 0.1%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 232.80,+0.93%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 792.00,+0.50%), Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 732.55,+0.38%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1050.00,+0.31%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 374.00,+0.24%),.



TECk index was at 17279.88 down by -320.26 points or by -1.82%. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2006.50,-4.21%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1765.10,-2.76%), Tata Elxsi Ltd. (Rs. 5154.00,-1.63%), LTIMindtree Ltd. (Rs. 5561.75,-1.58%), Tejas Networks Ltd. (Rs. 521.80,-1.54%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3993 , shares advanced were 1364 while 2450 shares declined and 179 were unchanged.
