Post-Session: Sensex falls for third day, Nifty slips below 25,500 on weak global cues

Falling for the third straight day, benchmark index Sensex declined by nearly 95 points while Nifty slipped below 25,500 on Friday as relentless foreign fund outflows and weak trends in global markets hit investors' sentiment.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83216.28 down by -94.73 points or by -0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25492.3 down by -17.4 points or by -0.07 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83390.11 and intraday low of 82670.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25551.25 and intraday low of 25318.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1066.65,+2.40%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 181.45,+2.37%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3691.60,+2.03%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2104.25,+1.96%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1342.75,+1.69%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2001.10,-4.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1387.00,-1.91%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1478.25,-1.17%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1512.35,-0.92%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2414.50,-0.89%), among others.



Metal index was at 34539.25 up by 480.94 points or by 1.41%. Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 181.45,+2.37%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1071.00,+2.32%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 515.00,+2.02%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 140.60,+1.96%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 234.45,+1.65%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4514 , shares advanced were 2167 while 2189 shares declined and 158 were unchanged.
