Sensex, Nifty firm on global cues, US-India trade optimism

Equity benchmark indices rallied sharply in afternoon trade on Wednesday, with the Sensex jumping over 770 points and the Nifty trading above the 25,900 mark. The surge was driven by strong buying across sectors, supported by a positive trend in Asian markets, boosting overall investor sentiment.



At 14:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84526.84 up by 655.52 points or by 0.78 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25884.65 up by 189.7 points or by 0.74 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84652.01 and intraday low of 84166.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25934.55 and intraday low of 25781.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 320.00,+22.18%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 857.90,+3.88%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1455.40,+3.30%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3120.00,+2.36%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2032.55,+2.25%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 178.75,-1.24%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 403.20,-1.06%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3948.00,-0.14%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2425.60,-0.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 267.45,-0.09%), among others.



IT index was at 36005.59 up by 663.94 points or by 1.88%. Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 394.65,+6.03%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 1159.80,+5.61%), 63 Moons Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 755.70,+4.76%), BLS E-Services Ltd. (Rs. 208.55,+4.75%), Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 399.10,+4.34%),.

Metal index was at 34929.27 down by -10.23 points or by -0.03%. Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 729.60,-1.71%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 178.75,-1.24%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 481.40,-1.24%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 143.25,-0.80%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 520.35,-0.65%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4448 , shares advanced were 2576 while 1684 shares declined and 188 were unchanged.
