Post-Session: Sensex ends 595 points up; IT and auto stocks gain

Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty closed higher on Tuesday, supported by strong buying in information technology and automobile stocks. Broad-based gains across sectors and positive global cues further boosted market sentiment.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84466.51 up by 595.19 points or by 0.71 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25875.8 up by 180.85 points or by 0.7 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84652.01 and intraday low of 84166.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25934.55 and intraday low of 25781.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 327.65,+25.11%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2773.40,+4.46%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 862.45,+4.43%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1456.00,+3.34%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3131.25,+2.73%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 178.65,-1.30%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 402.30,-1.28%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2081.30,-0.29%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 267.00,-0.26%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 989.45,-0.23%), among others.



_IT index was at 36030.83 up by 689.18 points or by 1.95%. Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 393.25,+5.66%), 63 Moons Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 755.95,+4.80%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 1150.35,+4.75%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 610.80,+4.37%), Dynacons Systems & Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 920.90,+4.11%),.



Realty index was at 7283.06 down by -36.4 points or by -0.5%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1700.45,-3.36%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1738.25,-1.40%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 956.50,-1.12%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1214.60,-0.49%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 760.75,-0.48%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4549 , shares advanced were 2603 while 1763 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
