Pre-Session: Markets set for upbeat start; Asian stocks climb; Rupee eyed

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open on a positive note on November 24, taking cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading higher near 26,180.

Today, all eyes will be on the Rupee, which hit a fresh low after an unexpected plunge late Friday, breaching the 89.5 mark. However, analysts note that overall sentiment remains cautiously optimistic, with the possibility of a trade deal with the US offering some support.

On November 21, the Indian markets ended a volatile session on a weak note, snapping a two-day winning streak, with the Nifty slipping below the 26,100 level amid broad-based selling.

On Friday, the 30-share benchmark indices ended at 85231.92 down by -400.76 points or by -0.47 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26068.15 down by -124 points or by -0.47 %.

On the global front, Stock markets in Asia edged higher amid optimism over potential rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 and South Korea's Kospi were up nearly 1 per cent, while Japan is closed for a holiday. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index saw its steepest weekly drop since April last week.

Meanwhile, Wall Street closed higher on Friday amid reports that the US might allow Nvidia Corp. to sell its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were up 0.98 per cent and 0.88 per cent, respectively.
