Sensex gains 127 pts; IT stocks support

Indian stock markets opened on a positive note, with benchmark indices edging up by around 0.1 percent, supported by gains in global markets.



At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85359.18 up by 127.26 points or by 0.15 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26097.25 up by 29.1 points or by 0.11 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85450.36 and intraday low of 85291.37 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26137.55 and intraday low of 26082.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1500.80,+2.73%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1579.00,+2.23%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1639.30,+1.93%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3175.70,+0.81%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1002.80,+0.47%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3708.75,-1.07%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 275.05,-0.94%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 359.00,-0.90%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 299.65,-0.79%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11652.00,-0.65%), among others.



IT index was at 36455.38 up by 581.16 points or by 1.62%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1500.80,+2.73%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1579.00,+2.23%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 921.00,+2.15%), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 722.95,+1.95%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1639.30,+1.93%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3430 , shares advanced were 1618 while 1606 shares declined and 206 were unchanged.
