Stock markets firm amid rally in IT counters, positive global trends

Benchmark indices Sensex and were trading firm on Monday, driven by a rally in IT stocks and firm global market trends.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85389.42 up by 157.5 points or by 0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26113.95 up by 45.8 points or by 0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85450.36 and intraday low of 85209.91 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26137.55 and intraday low of 26064.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1506.20,+3.10%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1567.70,+1.50%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1007.55,+0.94%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1622.00,+0.85%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1286.10,+0.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 357.35,-1.35%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11621.00,-0.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3720.35,-0.76%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 275.60,-0.74%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 300.05,-0.66%), among others.



IT index was at 36252.72 up by 378.5 points or by 1.06%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1506.20,+3.10%), Black Box Ltd. (Rs. 526.40,+2.29%), KPIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1187.80,+1.63%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 2787.85,+1.50%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1567.70,+1.50%),.



CGS index was at 68956.91 down by -407.1 points or by -0.59%. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4432.60,-3.53%), Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1483.65,-1.83%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4071 , shares advanced were 1576 while 2269 shares declined and 226 were unchanged.
