Post-Session: Sensex ends 331 pts down; SMIDs in red; metal, realty drag

Indian equities closed lower on Monday after a choppy trading session, despite buying interest in global markets.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84900.71 down by -331.21 points or by -0.39 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25959.5 down by -108.65 points or by -0.42 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85473.47 and intraday low of 84710.11 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26142.8 and intraday low of 25912.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1496.35,+2.43%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2889.50,+0.46%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1613.95,+0.35%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1549.40,+0.31%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1482.20,+0.18%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 165.30,-1.61%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3689.35,-1.59%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1262.25,-1.45%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 835.35,-1.32%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11590.65,-1.18%), among others.



IT index was at 35998.85 up by 124.63 points or by 0.35%. BLS E-Services Ltd. (Rs. 221.95,+3.69%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1496.35,+2.43%), Happiest Minds Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 508.40,+2.32%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 623.45,+2.26%), KPIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1192.80,+2.06%),.



Realty index was at 6885.51 down by -147.5 points or by -2.1%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 571.25,-6.42%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 861.15,-4.18%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1629.70,-3.50%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1606.80,-2.99%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2045.75,-2.09%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4646 , shares advanced were 1305 while 3112 shares declined and 229 were unchanged.
