Mid-Session: Sensex down 279 pts; PSB index down 3%

Indian stock markets continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in index NTPC Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.Titan Company Ltd. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.and State Bank of India among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84858.97 down by -279.3 points or by -0.33 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25934.95 down by -97.25 points or by -0.37 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85269.68 and intraday low of 84763.64 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26066.45 and intraday low of 25891



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3179.00,+1.38%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1574.60,+0.89%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1269.80,+0.82%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1382.75,+0.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1544.15,+0.56%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 321.80,-2.07%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3641.60,-2.02%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3820.00,-1.72%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 355.45,-1.70%), State Bank of India (Rs. 951.80,-1.65%), among others.



IT index was at 36617.8 up by 252.46 points or by 0.69%. Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 368.70,+5.33%), Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 419.75,+3.67%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 620.15,+2.39%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 255.40,+2.06%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 843.70,+1.60%),.



PSU index was at 19957.07 down by -327.17 points or by -1.61%. Indian Bank (Rs. 806.45,-6.17%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 120.00,-4.38%), Canara Bank (Rs. 145.85,-4.08%), Bank of India (Rs. 140.45,-3.64%), Bank of Baroda (Rs. 287.20,-3.25%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4252 , shares advanced were 1400 while 2654 shares declined and 198 were unchanged.
