Mid-Session: Sensex surges 448 points; NSE Nifty at 25907

Indian equity markets traded higher on Thursday, supported by positive global sentiment after the US Federal Reserve cut its key interest rate by 25 basis points on Wednesday.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84839.42 up by 448.15 points or by 0.53 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25907.3 up by 149.3 points or by 0.58 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84898.19 and intraday low of 84150.19 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25919.2 and intraday low of 25693.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2199.70,+3.31%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 289.80,+2.28%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16253.85,+1.56%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 164.50,+1.42%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1001.10,+1.09%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2049.80,-0.82%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2794.95,-0.35%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3832.10,-0.34%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 402.45,-0.16%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1362.60,-0.11%), among others.



Auto index was at 61430.91 up by 547.92 points or by 0.9%. Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 119.75,+3.01%), Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 1408.50,+1.80%), Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs. 160.50,+1.65%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16253.85,+1.56%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 36824.40,+1.21%),.



TECk index was at 18368.34 down by 23.01 points or by 0.13%. Hughes Ispat Ltd. (Rs. 50.57,-1.38%), Tata Communications Ltd. (Rs. 1780.00,-0.87%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2049.80,-0.82%), PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 1055.50,-0.39%), Route Mobile Ltd. (Rs. 670.05,-0.12%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4245 , shares advanced were 2373 while 1663 shares declined and 209 were unchanged.
