Sensex surges 427 points, Nifty tests 26k

Indian stock markets opened on a positive note, tracking the global market rally and drawing support from rising optimism that an India–US trade deal may be concluded soon. The upbeat global backdrop and improving trade sentiment are contributing to the strong start in early trading.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85245.87 up by 427.74 points or by 0.5 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26030.35 up by 131.8 points or by 0.51 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85282.76 and intraday low of 85031.71 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26037.15 and intraday low of 25963.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4095.00,+2.24%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 170.00,+2.19%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 848.00,+1.47%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11627.10,+1.40%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1520.95,+1.19%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1589.55,-0.52%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1564.95,-0.24%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1669.55,-0.17%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 346.20,-0.13%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2302.00,-0.12%), among others.

Metal index was at 34588.75 up by 570.43 points or by 1.68%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 538.40,+3.05%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 170.00,+2.19%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 841.65,+2.07%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 269.55,+1.99%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 132.00,+1.97%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3391 , shares advanced were 2415 while 817 shares declined and 159 were unchanged.
