Post-Session: Sensex ends 450 pts up on buying in metal shares, positive global trends

Benchmark stock index Sensex rallied nearly 450 points while broader Nifty closed above 26,000 level on Friday following buying in metal shares and positive global trends.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85267.66 up by 449.53 points or by 0.53 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26046.95 up by 148.4 points or by 0.57 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85320.82 and intraday low of 84956.74 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26057.6 and intraday low of 25938.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 171.90,+3.34%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 298.00,+2.37%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11736.00,+2.35%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1236.00,+1.75%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4073.70,+1.71%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2261.05,-1.89%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1794.50,-0.69%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 400.50,-0.63%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2763.30,-0.57%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 263.75,-0.36%), among others.



Metal index was at 34896.58 up by 878.26 points or by 2.58%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 561.35,+7.45%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 278.20,+5.26%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 77.91,+3.40%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 852.30,+3.37%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 171.90,+3.34%),.



_FMCG index was at 20022.1 down by -15.59 points or by -0.08%. AVT Natural Products Ltd. (Rs. 66.52,-3.61%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd. (Rs. 40.00,-3.01%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (Rs. 19.48,-2.16%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2261.05,-1.89%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd. (Rs. 380.95,-1.70%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4522 , shares advanced were 2695 while 1645 shares declined and 182 were unchanged.
