Sensex down 122 points; NSE Nifty at 26028.05

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty slipped in red during the morning deals amid selling in index heavyweights including Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. HCL Technologies Ltd.Reliance Industries Ltd.Axis Bank Ltd. among others.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84918.54 down by -122.91 points or by -0.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26028.05 down by -14.25 points or by -0.05 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85250 and intraday low of 84913.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26106.8 and intraday low of 26017.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 173.15,+2.36%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 285.15,+1.26%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1285.05,+1.06%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4016.20,+0.62%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1621.65,+0.52%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1465.00,-1.50%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 262.50,-1.13%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1647.60,-0.82%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1548.65,-0.66%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1220.70,-0.60%), among others.



Metal index was at 36076.1 up by 417.47 points or by 1.17%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 137.15,+3.67%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 173.15,+2.36%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 610.55,+1.57%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 646.70,+1.56%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1001.25,+1.50%),.



Power index was at 6461.85 down by -25.7 points or by -0.4%. Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1281.00,-1.43%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 77.43,-1.16%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 262.50,-1.13%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 140.60,-1.09%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 1008.20,-0.95%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4208 , shares advanced were 1629 while 2342 shares declined and 237 were unchanged.
