Post-Session: Sensex rises 573 pts; Nifty ends at 26,329

Indian equities ended higher on Friday, supported by broad-based buying across most sectors, even as the FMCG sector underperformed.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85762.01 up by 573.41 points or by 0.67 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26328.55 up by 182 points or by 0.7 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85812.27 and intraday low of 85068.88 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26340 and intraday low of 26118.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 352.00,+4.67%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 990.10,+1.84%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 271.05,+1.57%), State Bank of India (Rs. 999.35,+1.49%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16960.25,+1.47%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 350.15,-3.79%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1279.60,-1.17%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2195.10,-1.04%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1269.70,-0.36%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2108.20,-0.09%), among others.



Power index was at 6725.89 up by 148.76 points or by 2.26%. Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1398.35,+5.34%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 83.62,+4.91%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 352.00,+4.67%), Reliance Power Ltd. (Rs. 35.94,+3.45%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 54.29,+3.43%),.



FMCG index was at 19520.75 down by -221.23 points or by -1.12%. Cupid Ltd. (Rs. 419.95,-19.99%), Radico Khaitan Ltd. (Rs. 3095.10,-4.89%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 350.15,-3.79%), Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. (Rs. 2250.65,-1.70%), United Spirits Ltd. (Rs. 1381.30,-1.66%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4571 , shares advanced were 2906 while 1499 shares declined and 166 were unchanged.
