Sensex slips 138 pts, Nifty below 26,300

Benchmark indices, Nifty50 and Sensex, started the day on a mixed note, despite upbeat global cues.



BEL, SBI and Reliance Industries were the top gainers while HCLTech, Infosys and Tech Mahindra were the top laggards on BSE.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85623.6 down by -138.41 points or by -0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26297.55 down by -31 points or by -0.12 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85800.87 and intraday low of 85516.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26358.25 and intraday low of 26293.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.30,+1.34%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1295.90,+1.27%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1282.85,+1.21%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2801.65,+1.06%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1368.00,+0.97%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1595.60,-2.75%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1595.95,-2.68%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1586.10,-1.64%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 280.60,-1.25%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3210.40,-1.22%), among others.



Realty index was at 7026.51 up by 62.57 points or by 0.9%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1123.20,+3.39%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1538.65,+3.12%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 591.40,+1.21%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 57.35,+1.00%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2081.15,+0.60%),.



IT index was at 36462.21 down by -674.7 points or by -1.82%. Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1595.60,-2.75%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1595.95,-2.68%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 6135.90,-2.41%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 263.35,-2.15%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 560.95,-2.09%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3734 , shares advanced were 1555 while 1953 shares declined and 226 were unchanged.
