Post-Session: Benchmark indices extend losses for fifth session amid global concerns

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty declined nearly 1 per cent on Friday, extending their losing streak to a fifth consecutive session, as investors remained cautious over fears of possible US tariff hikes and persistent geopolitical tensions.



Continued foreign capital outflows from Indian markets further weighed on investor sentiment, traders added.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 83576.24 down by -604.72 points or by -0.72 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25683.3 down by -193.55 points or by -0.75 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84406.22 and intraday low of 83402.28 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25940.6 and intraday low of 25623



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2824.50,+1.36%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1662.30,+0.86%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1475.30,+0.34%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 284.40,+0.32%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1581.20,+0.23%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 336.05,-2.34%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1403.55,-2.22%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1435.75,-1.98%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2027.30,-1.89%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1736.85,-1.40%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 27263.77 up by 141.12 points or by 0.52%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 419.35,+2.34%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 287.35,+1.36%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 234.10,+1.14%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 157.60,+0.67%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 186.85,+0.65%),.



Realty index was at 6807.03 down by -154.75 points or by -2.22%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1993.10,-4.72%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 552.90,-3.18%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 671.30,-3.03%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 67.03,-2.84%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1550.55,-2.34%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4525 , shares advanced were 1185 while 3148 shares declined and 192 were unchanged.
