Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty flat; Metal, PSU stocks support

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty pared most of the early losses during the noon trading session on Monday.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83532.34 down by -43.9 points or by -0.05 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25660.8 down by -22.5 points or by -0.09 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83617.53 and intraday low of 82861.07 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25700.95 and intraday low of 25473.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 901.30,+2.18%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2885.25,+2.15%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1421.20,+1.26%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 180.50,+1.23%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1307.30,+0.64%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 281.35,-1.07%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 256.00,-0.99%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3988.55,-0.95%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 951.95,-0.90%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4168.05,-0.83%), among others.



Metal index was at 37026.78 up by 418.14 points or by 1.14%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 631.30,+4.01%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 430.75,+2.94%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 625.35,+2.53%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 148.10,+1.72%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1025.55,+1.49%),.



CGS index was at 64687.3 down by -895.39 points or by -1.37%. GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 2744.00,-5.39%), Cummins India Ltd. (Rs. 3944.35,-4.07%), Apar Industries Ltd. (Rs. 7866.20,-3.85%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 2947.60,-3.33%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 266.25,-3.08%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4483 , shares advanced were 1222 while 3042 shares declined and 219 were unchanged.
