Sensex down 124 points; NSE Nifty at 25029.35

Indian equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty traded volatile on Tuesday amid the expiry of Nifty futures and options contracts.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81412.75 down by -124.95 points or by -0.15 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25029.35 down by -19.3 points or by -0.08 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81899.83 and intraday low of 81088.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25184.95 and intraday low of 24932.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1313.70,+4.25%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1347.90,+3.08%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12600.60,+1.88%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 190.75,+1.71%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1728.70,+1.61%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3366.80,-4.96%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2596.85,-3.90%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 405.80,-3.88%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 251.00,-2.96%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 908.15,-2.12%), among others.



Metal index was at 38689.18 up by 811.91 points or by 2.14%. Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 793.95,+6.48%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 380.80,+2.79%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 718.20,+2.77%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 2055.00,+2.70%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1200.15,+2.63%),.



CDS index was at 55555.74 down by -1292.87 points or by -2.27%. Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2596.85,-3.90%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4601 , shares advanced were 1671 while 2735 shares declined and 195 were unchanged.
