Sensex surges 363 points; NSE Nifty at 25311.1

Sensex and Nifty opened higher on Wednesday, supported by positive global cues and optimism over the India–EU Free Trade Agreement.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82220.59 up by 363.11 points or by 0.44 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25311.1 up by 135.7 points or by 0.54 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82503.97 and intraday low of 81887.93 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25372.1 and intraday low of 25225.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1350.30,+2.73%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1398.95,+1.30%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 257.40,+1.18%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 349.00,+1.12%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1936.20,+1.07%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2474.40,-5.73%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14914.30,-2.14%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 880.20,-1.63%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1666.60,-1.00%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1629.30,-0.61%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 27809.81 up by 796.89 points or by 2.95%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 482.70,+7.60%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 263.30,+6.15%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 287.00,+3.37%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 164.50,+2.81%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 428.50,+2.15%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3633 , shares advanced were 2463 while 992 shares declined and 178 were unchanged.
