Sensex down 420 pts; Nifty below 25,200

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty on Thursday, snapping a two-day winning streak, as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of the Union Budget presentation scheduled for Sunday.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81924.2 down by -420.48 points or by -0.51 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25186.4 down by -156.35 points or by -0.62 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82386.79 and intraday low of 81707.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25359.35 and intraday low of 25159.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3913.35,+3.16%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 357.60,+2.70%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 196.80,+1.55%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1338.80,+1.39%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 269.00,+0.96%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2428.95,-3.26%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3848.05,-3.24%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4596.55,-3.20%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3347.75,-2.93%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2317.65,-2.63%), among others.



Metal index was at 40425.29 up by 555.15 points or by 1.39%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 419.80,+3.35%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1152.90,+3.02%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1020.00,+2.13%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 752.15,+2.04%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 82.87,+1.67%),.
