Sensex slips 1000 points; realty stocks tumble

Indian benchmarks witnessed sharp decline by trading nearly 1000 points lower during the late noon trading session. Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices were trading lower by 0.97 percent and 0.71 per cent, respectively.



On the corporate front, TCS shares surged 2 per cent today after the Tata Group announced a strategic partnership with OpenAI to build AI infrastructure in the country and offer joint market solutions.



Among others, Newgen Software Technologies share price surged 20 per cent in Thursday's session, hitting a high of ₹618 per share on the NSE.



At 14:46 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82649.69 down by -1084.56 points or by -1.3 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25564.55 down by -254.8 points or by -0.99 %.



The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 83979.36 and intraday low of 82645.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25885.3 and intraday low of 25544.90.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1377.95,+0.32%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 28.47,-3.23%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4821.85,-3.17%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12693.40,-2.72%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 4073.00,-2.70%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3449.70,-2.29%), among others.



Among the sectors, HCS index was at 43238.3 up by -88.77 points or by -0.2%. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1186.10,+2.27%), Biocon Ltd. (Rs. 385.35,+1.73%), Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 365.35,+1.64%), KMC Speciality Hospitals (India) Ltd. (Rs. 83.43,+1.53%), Advanced Enzyme Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 304.75,+1.45%),.



On the flip side, Realty index was at 6397.35 down by -115.91 points or by -1.78%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1074.60,-2.94%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 625.45,-2.64%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1838.45,-2.04%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1515.00,-1.87%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1501.65,-1.63%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4432 , shares advanced were 1507 while 2733 shares declined and 192 were unchanged.
