Indian benchmarks were volatile in trade on Friday, as investors assessed rising oil prices amid escalating Iran-US tensions, amid bargain buying opportunities. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 indices advanced 0.32 per cent and 0.09 per cent, respectively.
On the corporate front, share price of the state-owned upstream company Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) hit a 52-week high at ₹280.80, gaining 2 per cent on the BSE in Friday’s intra-day trade on higher crude oil prices.
Shares of Novartis India Ltd. hit a 20 per cent upper price band limit on Friday after its Swiss parent, Novartis AG, agreed to sell its entire stake to a consortium.
At 10:49 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82894.33 up by 396.19 points or by 0.48 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25570.85 up by 116.5 points or by 0.46 %.
In the positive trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 82946 and intraday low of 82206.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25578.5 and intraday low of 25379.75.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 28.24,-1.74%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 268.65,-1.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1359.85,-0.71%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1472.10,-0.60%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3418.00,-0.38%), among others.
