Sensex, Nifty hold gains; IT drag

Indian benchmarks continued to trade in positive terrain during the noon trading session. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap 100 and the Nifty SmallCap 100 indices advanced 0.72 per cent and 0.17 per cent, respectively.



On the corporate front, 5paisa Capital shares jumped 8.6 per cent on BSE, logging an intra-day high at ₹341.3 per share. Shares of Dee Development Engineers Ltd. rallied over 10 per cent on Friday after it bagged orders worth $40 million for the supply of HRSG piping for 16 units.



At 14:23 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82981.75 up by 483.61 points or by 0.59 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25596.15 up by 141.8 points or by 0.56 %.



The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 83132.08 and intraday low of 82206.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25663.55 and intraday low of 25379.75.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 372.60,+2.60%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4373.00,+2.20%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 299.45,+1.63%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1030.50,+1.60%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 208.55,+1.51%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 28.30,-1.53%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1461.55,-1.31%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1439.25,-0.77%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1975.55,-0.74%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1360.40,-0.67%), among others.



Among the sectors, Power index was at 6906.33 up by 151.42 points or by 2.24%. ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 6233.50,+9.06%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3300.95,+6.14%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 23823.40,+4.32%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 3669.05,+3.47%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 492.50,+2.61%),.



Whereas, BSETECk index was at 16363.55 down by -106.99 points or by -0.65%. Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 5103.85,-3.17%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 91.20,-1.73%), HFCL Ltd. (Rs. 70.39,-1.48%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1461.55,-1.31%), RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 324.75,-1.29%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4416 , shares advanced were 2054 while 2146 shares declined and 216 were unchanged.
