Indices continue to trade lower; FMCG stocks decline

Indian benchmarks continued to trade in negative terrain lower by 546 points during the late morning deals. In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap 100 slipped 0.9 per cent, and the Nifty SmallCap 100 dipped 0.8 per cent.



On the corporate front, shares of Sai Life Sciences (SLS) hit a new high of ₹992, surging 3 per cent on the BSE in Friday’s intra-day trade. Shares of Foseco India were trading higher on an otherwise weak market on Friday. The company’s share price climbed as much as 15.06 per cent to log an intraday high of ₹5,443.7 per share on the NSE on Friday.



At 11:31 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81702.59 down by -546.02 points or by -0.66 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25325.35 down by -171.2 points or by -0.67 %.



In the volatile trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 82246.17 and intraday low of 81673.38 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25476.4 and intraday low of 25292.40.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 250.70,+1.75%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1307.60,+1.42%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1392.85,+1.41%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3901.00,+1.12%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1371.60,+0.72%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4815.55,-2.47%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1883.70,-2.32%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12699.10,-1.82%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14951.60,-1.72%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2350.20,-1.40%), among others.



Among the sectors, IT index was at 29896.15 up by 221.07 points or by 0.74%. Netweb Technologies India Ltd. (Rs. 3874.40,+4.78%), D-Link (India) Ltd. (Rs. 417.50,+2.03%), Affle 3I Ltd. (Rs. 1356.00,+2.02%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 2305.95,+1.94%), L&T Technology Services Ltd. (Rs. 3377.20,+1.88%),.



On the flip side, FMCG index was at 18795.03 down by -233.75 points or by -1.23%. Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd. (Rs. 206.60,-2.64%), CCL Products India Ltd. (Rs. 1009.85,-2.34%), Radico Khaitan Ltd. (Rs. 2638.50,-2.24%), Jyothy Labs Ltd. (Rs. 248.55,-2.18%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd. (Rs. 394.15,-2.14%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4145 , shares advanced were 1507 while 2443 shares declined and 195 were unchanged.
