Sensex down 865 points; NSE Nifty at 23724.95

The Indian equity benchmark indices recovered sharply from day's low as Reliance Industries, Coal India, and NTCP shares supported.



Meanwhile, news report said that Iran will allow Indian-flagged ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz safely.

At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75998.03 down by -865.68 points or by -1.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23724.95 down by -141.9 points or by -0.59 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76681.71 and intraday low of 75871.18 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23833.15 and intraday low of 23556.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 388.85,+2.33%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 302.10,+1.10%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1344.70,+0.81%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1354.15,+0.30%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1394.00,+0.21%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3036.30,-4.12%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13002.00,-3.71%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11092.70,-3.18%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 865.50,-3.10%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3517.85,-2.94%), among others.



Power index was at 7031.04 up by 146.52 points or by 2.13%. JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 519.80,+6.58%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 147.05,+5.91%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1505.00,+4.60%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 402.20,+4.41%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 267.05,+4.40%),.



Auto index was at 55647.52 down by -1726.65 points or by -3.01%. TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 3424.00,-4.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3036.30,-4.12%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13002.00,-3.71%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 6985.00,-3.68%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 324.00,-3.38%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4488 , shares advanced were 1779 while 2526 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
