Mid-Session: Sensex slumps 1,200 pts, Nifty trades below 23,300

The Indian benchmark indices were trading at day's low as oil and gas supply crunch continued to dent risk appetite.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74848.26 down by -1186.16 points or by -1.56 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23239.2 down by -399.95 points or by -1.69 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75576.2 and intraday low of 74688.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23492.4 and intraday low of 23227.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2172.05,+1.71%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3542.60,+0.30%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1805.05,+0.24%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3510.60,-5.65%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 184.65,-4.55%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 436.80,-3.74%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10737.00,-3.19%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12615.45,-3.08%), among others.



FMCG index was at 17678.65 up by -30.1 points or by -0.17%. Zydus Wellness Ltd. (Rs. 438.60,+12.94%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (Rs. 1082.80,+2.40%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2172.05,+1.71%), Hatsun Agro Products Ltd. (Rs. 950.10,+1.62%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (Rs. 3600.00,+1.41%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4360 , shares advanced were 940 while 3226 shares declined and 194 were unchanged.
