Sensex, Nifty extend rally on global cues, IT gains

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty advanced on Wednesday, building on gains from the past two sessions, supported by a decline in crude oil prices and positive global market trends.



A strong rally in IT stocks further boosted investor sentiment, driving the upward momentum in domestic equities.

At 10:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76413.15 up by 342.31 points or by 0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23657.05 up by 75.9 points or by 0.32 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76609.46 and intraday low of 76187.92 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23754.65 and intraday low of 23618.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1369.50,+3.67%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1276.20,+3.55%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2474.05,+3.44%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1386.00,+3.24%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 240.00,+2.26%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 834.70,-1.32%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1273.70,-1.18%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 861.15,-0.86%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 194.25,-0.59%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 372.55,-0.47%), among others.



IT index was at 28826.07 up by 984.9 points or by 3.54%. Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1109.85,+5.57%), InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 139.55,+5.44%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1129.60,+5.19%), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 6634.50,+5.18%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 676.00,+5.16%),.



Metal index was at 38144.18 down by -308.67 points or by -0.8%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 532.00,-2.65%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 385.35,-2.50%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 682.00,-2.43%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 452.90,-1.99%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 925.00,-1.25%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3964 , shares advanced were 2948 while 823 shares declined and 193 were unchanged.
