Mid-Session: Sensex drops 1,650 pts, Nifty below 23,300

The Nifty50 and Sensex were trading sharply lower, mirroring losses in global equities, as a fresh escalation in the US-Iran conflict drove crude oil prices higher and dampened investor sentiment.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75060.42 down by -1643.71 points or by -2.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23248.95 down by -528.85 points or by -2.22 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75354.18 and intraday low of 74685.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23378.7 and intraday low of 23180.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1860.60,+0.28%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 230.05,-5.17%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 842.05,-4.28%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3463.35,-3.94%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3098.05,-3.62%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1730.80,-3.46%), among others.



Power index was at 6919.4 up by -53.62 points or by -0.77%. Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1459.25,+0.39%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 510.30,+0.26%),.



Realty index was at 5503.89 down by -179.47 points or by -3.16%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1574.60,-4.15%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 542.05,-3.64%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1274.10,-3.50%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 663.50,-3.30%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 455.80,-3.27%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4347 , shares advanced were 1143 while 3009 shares declined and 195 were unchanged.
