Mid-Session: Sensex up 482 points; realty stocks weigh

The Nifty 50 and Sensex pared early gains and retreated from the day’s highs, as weakness in financial stocks weighed on the indices.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74689.89 up by 482.65 points or by 0.65 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23155.05 up by 152.9 points or by 0.66 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75286.39 and intraday low of 74535.26 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23345.15 and intraday low of 23109.9



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 196.85,+3.31%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1382.00,+3.15%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 306.65,+2.89%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1421.25,+2.59%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3567.95,+2.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 781.05,-2.33%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 822.20,-1.18%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 429.15,-0.38%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3425.05,-0.30%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 367.75,-0.05%), among others.



Power index was at 6981.8 up by 125.2 points or by 1.83%. Reliance Power Ltd. (Rs. 22.99,+5.36%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 261.95,+4.09%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 42.15,+2.63%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 25295.00,+2.62%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 77.95,+2.31%),.



Realty index was at 5459.26 down by -8.73 points or by -0.16%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1539.20,-2.15%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 810.35,-1.10%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 49.00,-0.85%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1259.90,-0.75%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 657.05,-0.27%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4399 , shares advanced were 2752 while 1459 shares declined and 188 were unchanged.
