Sensex, Nifty pare some losses; PM Modi speaks on West Asia

Indian benchmark indices pared losses from the day's low after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that continuous efforts are being made to ensure energy supply from the Strait of Hormuz.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73075.09 down by -1457.87 points or by -1.96 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22618.7 down by -495.8 points or by -2.14 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73732.58 and intraday low of 72558.44 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22851.7 and intraday low of 22471.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1362.35,+2.12%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1401.00,+1.16%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 300.70,+1.08%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2397.45,+0.29%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1258.05,+0.27%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3875.00,-5.68%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 3946.70,-4.85%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3394.95,-4.78%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10423.75,-4.61%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 188.15,-4.35%), among others.



IT index was at 28186.2 up by -40.41 points or by -0.14%. BLS E-Services Ltd. (Rs. 150.95,+4.10%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1362.35,+2.12%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1103.45,+1.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1401.00,+1.16%), Rashi Peripherals Ltd. (Rs. 344.35,+0.66%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4753 , shares advanced were 644 while 3948 shares declined and 161 were unchanged.
