Stock markets firm on hopes of potential de-escalation in West Asia war

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 surged on Wednesday, mirroring a strong rally in global markets amid rising hopes of a possible de-escalation in the ongoing West Asia conflict.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73380.15 up by 1432.6 points or by 1.99 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22797.15 up by 465.75 points or by 2.09 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73964.58 and intraday low of 73374.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22941.3 and intraday low of 22771.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4263.90,+8.12%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3486.40,+5.82%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 422.30,+5.42%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1375.95,+4.76%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 833.05,+3.95%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 369.00,-0.53%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 295.55,-0.22%), among others.



IT index was at 28961.28 up by 1034.96 points or by 3.71%. Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 215.10,+14.93%), Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 238.25,+14.85%), Network People Services Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1098.55,+14.67%), Orient Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 249.95,+11.73%), Ceinsys Tech Ltd. (Rs. 990.85,+11.13%),.



HCS index was at 41931.49 down by 153.11 points or by 0.37%. Acutaas Chemicals Ltd. (Rs. 2416.30,-5.55%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (Rs. 7274.00,-2.08%), Ipca Laboratories Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4286 , shares advanced were 3709 while 435 shares declined and 142 were unchanged.
