Sensex falls 411 points, Nifty breaks 22,800; realty, bank stocks weigh

The Sensex and Nifty 50 declined as investors remained cautious, closely tracking the evolving geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.



At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73695.36 down by -411.49 points or by -0.56 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22773.05 down by -195.2 points or by -0.85 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73871.15 and intraday low of 73282.41 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22843.95 and intraday low of 22719.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 859.10,+1.00%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3860.80,+0.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1703.30,+0.54%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1457.15,+0.47%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1408.50,+0.42%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4228.00,-1.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2967.95,-1.78%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 228.70,-1.53%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1227.25,-1.45%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1021.25,-1.10%), among others.



Metal index was at 38471.7 up by 240.78 points or by 0.63%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 957.00,+3.19%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 706.00,+2.32%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 411.60,+1.02%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3510 , shares advanced were 1897 while 1445 shares declined and 168 were unchanged.
