Sensex down 537 points on renewed US-Iran tension

Equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex fell as oil prices rebounded on concerns over Iran accusing the US of violating the ceasefire pact.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77025.67 down by -537.23 points or by -0.69 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23984.2 down by -13.15 points or by -0.05 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77429.33 and intraday low of 76950 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23990.75 and intraday low of 23815.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 380.25,+1.60%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 438.45,+1.26%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 206.40,+1.05%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 297.15,+0.78%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1723.00,+0.55%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1316.40,-2.22%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3939.80,-1.69%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4544.00,-1.57%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 805.65,-1.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3170.90,-1.24%), among others.



Metal index was at 40324.8 up by 485.2 points or by 1.22%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 978.10,+2.75%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 408.05,+2.00%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 734.10,+1.80%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 167.00,+1.61%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 83.89,+1.15%),.



IT index was at 30027.2 down by -366.8 points or by -1.21%. Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 234.95,-3.11%), R Systems International Ltd. (Rs. 276.25,-2.93%), RateGain Travel Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 538.50,-2.31%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1316.25,-2.23%), Nucleus Software Exports Ltd. (Rs. 844.55,-2.14%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3698 , shares advanced were 1990 while 1524 shares declined and 184 were unchanged.
