Stock markets in red amid fresh tensions in West Asia

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled on Thursday, snapping their previous session rally, amid renewed tensions in West Asia that raised fears of a ceasefire breach.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76878.63 down by -684.27 points or by -0.88 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23807.9 down by -189.45 points or by -0.79 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77429.33 and intraday low of 76624.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23990.75 and intraday low of 23759.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 381.70,+1.99%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 440.00,+1.62%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.15,+1.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 205.40,+0.56%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1718.80,+0.30%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3912.00,-2.38%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4525.20,-1.98%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1321.90,-1.81%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3155.30,-1.73%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 803.60,-1.53%), among others.



CGS index was at 70325 up by 882.58 points or by 1.27%. Apar Industries Ltd. (Rs. 11042.00,+5.29%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 3878.85,+4.09%), Zen Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1508.15,+4.04%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4060.80,+3.98%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 276.05,+3.86%),.



IT index was at 30124.01 down by -269.99 points or by -0.89%. R Systems International Ltd. (Rs. 275.70,-3.13%), Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1244.45,-2.02%), Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1230.00,-1.82%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1321.90,-1.81%), Ceinsys Tech Ltd. (Rs. 1057.55,-1.75%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4171 , shares advanced were 2357 while 1613 shares declined and 201 were unchanged.
