Post-Session: Markets snap five-day rally; Broader indices outperform

Benchmark indices Nifty50 and Sensex snapped their five-session gaining streak as rising oil prices weighed on sentiment amid a fragile US-Iran ceasefire.



However, broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, with the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices ending higher by 0.25 per cent and 0.20 per cent, respectively.



On the sectoral front, banking stocks lagged, with the Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank indices underperforming their peers, while the Nifty Metal index emerged as the top gainer for the session.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 76631.65 down by -931.25 points or by -1.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23775.1 down by -222.25 points or by -0.93 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77429.33 and intraday low of 76347.9 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23990.75 and intraday low of 23682.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 439.80,+1.57%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 378.45,+1.12%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.15,+1.12%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2587.75,+1.09%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1465.20,+0.55%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4448.35,-3.64%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3897.20,-2.75%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.90,-2.34%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 797.25,-2.31%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1280.75,-2.18%), among others.



CGS index was at 70578.51 up by 1136.09 points or by 1.64%. Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 3534.80,+7.07%), Zen Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1533.95,+5.82%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 27306.75,+5.41%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 3925.00,+5.32%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 277.10,+4.25%),.



Bankex index was at 61710.92 down by -990.76 points or by -1.58%. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 814.90,-2.50%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 797.25,-2.31%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1280.75,-2.18%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 371.90,-2.13%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1040.90,-1.90%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4638 , shares advanced were 2257 while 2218 shares declined and 163 were unchanged.
