Sensex, Nifty firm; Asian Paints, ICICI Bank top gainers

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading firm on Friday, driven by a rally in bank stocks and a positive trend in global markets.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77439.12 up by 807.47 points or by 1.05 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24022.55 up by 247.45 points or by 1.04 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77501.4 and intraday low of 76851.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24024.1 and intraday low of 23856.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2364.05,+4.17%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1320.30,+3.09%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1354.70,+2.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3244.10,+2.42%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 923.05,+2.15%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1649.95,-3.92%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1290.00,-3.12%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2513.65,-2.86%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1430.10,-2.40%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1436.70,-1.69%), among others.



Realty index was at 5919.49 up by 145.86 points or by 2.53%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 828.95,+5.02%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 492.05,+3.17%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1741.05,+2.78%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1750.55,+2.56%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 718.10,+2.34%),.



IT index was at 29748.03 down by -671.39 points or by -2.21%. Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1221.65,-3.37%), Cigniti Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1209.50,-3.31%), MphasiS Ltd. (Rs. 2308.00,-3.22%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1290.00,-3.12%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2513.65,-2.86%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4157 , shares advanced were 3276 while 677 shares declined and 204 were unchanged.
