Sensex rises 766 pts; Nifty below 24,000

The Nifty50 and the Sensex rose as realty, bank, and financial stocks advanced. Traders remained focused on the US-Iran tensions.



At 14:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77397.84 up by 766.19 points or by 1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23970.45 up by 195.35 points or by 0.82 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77547.89 and intraday low of 76851.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24048.2 and intraday low of 23856.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2366.00,+4.26%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1315.40,+2.71%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3242.00,+2.36%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1065.30,+2.34%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1348.60,+2.28%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1655.00,-3.63%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1294.20,-2.80%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2520.00,-2.62%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1435.00,-1.81%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1445.85,-1.32%), among others.



Auto index was at 58495.8 up by 1352.04 points or by 2.37%. Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs. 177.65,+4.25%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 323.65,+4.02%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 121.35,+3.81%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 7401.50,+3.59%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5457.10,+3.24%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4624 , shares advanced were 3371 while 1056 shares declined and 197 were unchanged.
