Markets slide on US–Iran talks failure

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined sharply in early Monday trading, as concerns escalated following the breakdown of US–Iran talks, which pushed crude oil prices higher and dampened investor sentiment.



At 9:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76268.12 down by -1282.13 points or by -1.65 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23631.35 down by -419.25 points or by -1.74 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76339.3 and intraday low of 75868.32 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23699.7 and intraday low of 23555.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 382.45,+0.57%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13268.15,-3.23%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4420.25,-2.98%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1036.70,-2.81%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1316.35,-2.50%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 791.15,-2.38%), among others.



Power index was at 7309.7 up by 23.1 points or by 0.32%. Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 182.20,+3.70%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 404.00,+1.13%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1482.00,+0.99%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 492.75,+0.82%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 4099.00,+0.71%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 26108.68 down by -572.58 points or by -2.15%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 347.85,-3.58%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 261.75,-3.32%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 290.65,-2.91%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 139.25,-2.62%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1316.35,-2.50%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4005 , shares advanced were 1058 while 2790 shares declined and 157 were unchanged.
