Indian benchmarks are expected to start the day on a negative note on Tuesday. The GIFT Nifty indicated that the benchmark Nifty50 may open on a negative note as traders assessed the latest development in the US-Iran relationship.
Meanwhile, Asian markets were hovering near record highs but traded cautiously, with Japan’s Nikkei slipping after hitting a fresh peak. Broader regional indices remained flat to marginally lower.
In the commodities market, Brent crude extended its rally for a seventh straight session, trading near $108-109 per barrel, as progress on US-Iran negotiations remains elusive and the Strait of Hormuz continues to face disruptions.
On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 77303.63 up by 639.42 points or by 0.83 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24092.7 up by 194.75 points or by 0.81 %.
On the global front, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite hit fresh highs with limited gains. The indices settled 0.12 per cent and 0.20 per cent higher, respectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.13 per cent down.
Gold prices fell on Monday as the U.S. and Iran vacillate from their respective stances on peace talks while the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively shut, thereby amplifying supply disruption and inflation-related concerns.

The FIIs on 27/04/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 10023.81 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 714.04 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 18745.46 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 573.79 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -8721.65 Crore and Rs. 140.25.
