Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty trade flat amid volatility; midcaps gain

Indian benchmark indices traded marginally lower on Wednesday, with the Nifty50 slipping below the 23,900 mark amid cautious market sentiment.



Among the major gainers on the Nifty were Hindalco, Eternal, Tata Steel, NTPC and Power Grid Corp, while Coal India, ONGC, ITC, HDFC Bank and HDFC Life were among the top laggards.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76049.65 up by 39.95 points or by 0.05 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23906.3 down by -7.4 points or by -0.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76224.68 and intraday low of 75797.01 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23983.2 and intraday low of 23868.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 299.30,+2.27%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 214.95,+2.14%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 397.15,+1.98%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 253.95,+1.50%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4547.25,+1.44%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 292.10,-3.21%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 762.20,-2.16%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2193.00,-0.75%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1162.20,-0.45%),



Power index was at 8432.33 up by 204.16 points or by 2.48%. Siemens Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 3721.00,+7.45%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 7149.40,+5.04%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 921.75,+4.84%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 5052.30,+4.25%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 600.20,+4.21%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 27487.8 down by -67.38 points or by -0.24%. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 276.95,-3.67%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 486.00,-1.25%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 278.25,-0.71%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 165.55,-0.24%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1354.80,-0.15%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4364 , shares advanced were 2272 while 1856 shares declined and 236 were unchanged.
