Sensex plunges 217 pts; bank, financial stocks weigh

The Nifty50 and Sensex fluctuated between gains and losses as traders remained cautious amid the evolving geopolitical situation and lingering uncertainty surrounding a possible US-Iran deal.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75792.45 down by -217.25 points or by -0.29 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23873.95 down by -39.75 points or by -0.17 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76224.68 and intraday low of 75748.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23983.2 and intraday low of 23868.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 300.60,+2.72%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 256.90,+2.68%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4580.55,+2.18%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 214.85,+2.09%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 396.65,+1.85%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 291.65,-3.36%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 758.10,-2.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1156.75,-0.92%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1268.00,-0.87%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 417.00,-0.73%), among others.



Power index was at 8452.91 up by 224.74 points or by 2.73%. Siemens Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 3734.60,+7.84%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 931.45,+5.94%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 7194.05,+5.70%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 5117.40,+5.59%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3867.55,+5.25%),.
